A LETTER FROM THE HIVE
Curiosity has a home.
Welcome to the first official edition of The Archive Gazette, a publication of Healing Hive Botanicals. Since our founding, we have followed the fascinating meeting points of ethnobotany, psychoactive plant research, traditional knowledge, fungi, culture and conservation.
Our mission is to explore the story behind the species: what researchers have actually found, what communities have preserved, what remains uncertain and what deserves careful scrutiny. The Archive is educational; it is not an invitation to consume or obtain controlled substances.
These inaugural dispatches are a sourced retrospective of selected 2026 developments. We will continue expanding our historical index and future editions.

5 OCT 2026 · CLINICAL RESEARCH
Federal Agency Opens Ibogaine Trial Consultation
The FDA invited public comment on early-stage ibogaine clinical-trial design, including cardiac monitoring, eligibility and safety oversight. Comments close November 20. Research does not establish safety for unsupervised use.
A review identified multiple historically associated vines, leaves and occasional additives. The authors distinguish well-documented taxa from tentative reports—an important reminder that traditional names and scientific identities are not always interchangeable.
Psychedelic Medicine and the Question of Safeguards
At a public FDA hearing, speakers addressed evidence standards, patient screening, supervision and access to future treatments. The meeting was part of continuing discussion, not an approval of psychedelic products.
Traditional Plant Knowledge Faces Climate Pressure
A Nature study documented thousands of Amazonian plants with recorded uses and projected substantial climate-related losses of local availability. Botanical conservation is also cultural conservation.
A peer-reviewed study describes how a Cherokee Nation–National Park Service agreement links traditional plant knowledge to gathering permissions and cultural authority.

Extra! A New Hive Opens Its Doors
Welcome to the first official edition of The Archive Gazette, the research desk of Healing Hive Botanicals. Since our LLC launch, we've been collecting the stories behind remarkable plants, fungi, traditions and the evolving psychedelic research community. The Archive is where curiosity meets careful documentation: what has been studied, what remains disputed, and whose knowledge deserves recognition. Here is our inaugural retrospective—not a claim that every story broke today.

October 5, 2026 · ARCHIVE DISPATCH 01
FDA opens new chapter in ibogaine research
The FDA requested public input on early-stage ibogaine trial design, including eligibility, monitoring, dose selection and stopping rules. The comment period runs through November 20. Ibogaine is investigational and carries serious cardiac risks.
The public hearing: psychedelics under examination
The FDA convened a hearing on potential future supervised therapeutic uses of psychedelic drugs. Safety, clinical oversight, evidence standards and access remain central questions—not settled endorsements.
The FDA finalized its guidance on designing clinical investigations of psychedelic drugs, a significant framework for researchers evaluating efficacy, adverse effects and trial methods.
Researchers and advocates are calling for Indigenous communities to participate meaningfully in psychedelic research, including decisions about cultural knowledge, credit and commercialization.
A peer-reviewed analysis examines contested claims about ancestral Sonoran Desert toad use and the ecological impacts of demand for toad secretions. Historical claims deserve careful scrutiny.
A published review examined 42 plant species discussed in Indigenous and local health systems, emphasizing cultural context alongside chemical and pharmacological literature.
From the editor: Research is not a recommendation for use, a medical claim, or a claim of legal availability. Cultural practices are described respectfully and with attention to attribution and conservation. The Archive is educational; restricted substances are not offered for sale. This inaugural edition highlights selected verifiable developments, not every item ever discussed in earlier drafts.

The House
A botanical storefront with an archive behind it.
Healing Hive is designed to feel more like a modern apothecary house than a loose-herb catalog: curated blends, premium boxes, grow kits, sourced honey, crystals, ritual-cleansing accessories and ritual tools — supported by a deeper ethnobotanical library.
The botanical collection
Flavor first. Story with integrity.
Botanical materials selected for their identity, aroma and character, with plant guides that distinguish documented traditions from modern ritual pairings.
Archive what should be understood — not necessarily sold.
Controlled, hazardous and conservation-sensitive plants remain education-only unless a lawful product form is independently cleared.
Explore the collections
Seven doors into the plant world.
Six commercial/research collections organize flavor and ritual. The seventh — Archive — houses entheogenic history and legal context without forcing every important plant into a retail SKU.
